Labsistant has three plans. This article lists what each one includes so you can work out which you need, and explains what happens when you hit a limit.
The three plans

Team and Lab have no user ceiling. The included figure is how many are covered by the base price, and each member beyond it is charged the per-user rate.

Audit history is worth reading twice if you have any record-keeping obligation. On Free, the Audit Log only reaches back a week.

Choosing between them
- Free suits one or two people trying Labsistant on a small collection. Fifty items and five locations go quickly in a real lab.
- Team is the working plan for most labs. It is the step that unlocks experiments, groups, recipes, and the assistant.
- Lab adds the things a lab handling specimens needs: samples, sterile and RNase-free tracking, zones, and unlimited audit history.
The single clearest signal: if you track samples, you need Lab. Samples are not available on any lower plan.
What a locked feature looks like
Gated features are visible rather than hidden, so you can tell what you are missing.
- Sidebar rows for features outside your plan are still listed, dimmed, with a lock and a Team badge on the right: Experiments, Schedule, Groups, Edna and Analytics. Clicking one opens the page, which explains the feature and offers the upgrade.
- Menu items may show a Team badge with a lock, for example Make Reagent on the Free plan. Clicking one offers the upgrade rather than failing silently.
- Whole pages that are gated explain what the feature is and link to the plans.
Hitting a cap
Approaching a limit gets you a warning before you reach it, not just an error at the wall. When you reach a cap, adding more of that thing is blocked until you upgrade or remove some.
Nothing you have already recorded is deleted for being over a limit.
Managing your subscription
- Go to Settings in the sidebar.
- Open the Billing tab.
You can also get there from the View billing link in the trial banner, and Choose a Plan opens the plan picker.
Only a PI can change the lab's plan.
Trials
A trial gives you the paid plan's features for a limited period, and the banner across the top tells you how many days are left. When it ends without a subscription, the lab moves to the Free plan.
Downgrading
If you move to a lower plan, Labsistant warns you first about what changes. The warnings are specific, for example telling you that sterile and RNase-free tracking becomes read-only and that existing flags are preserved.
The general shape is that you keep your data and lose the ability to add more of the gated kind. Check the warnings on the downgrade screen for your specific case before confirming, since they are generated from your actual lab rather than being generic.
